Singers who cant sing ?

Looking at the Ian Dury thread - gank made the point that Ian Dury was not a good singer.
There have been other legends that I have enjoyed,and admired and yet they also were not classically good singers. I still say they can be considered Legends.
My wife always says that Bob Dylan sounds like he is singing with gravel in his mouth. yeah maybe - but who would disagree that he is still a Legend. other better singers have covered his songs, and had hits - but I still prefer the gravel version.
Bruce Springsteen is not a classic voice, but live he is incredible and again others (with better singing voices) have successfully covered Springsteen songs and had hits.
Ian Dury may not reach the level of Legend, but he was widely admired - could others have hits with covers of his songs - I cannot think of any, others may know.
What artists do you admire that you would not consider to be good singers ?

Craig Finn of The Hold Steady. Leonard Cohen. Johnny Rotten. All musical poets more than singers.
Craig Finn in particular is probably the best lyric writer around now. Totally original.

Russ abbott: unfunny but great voice
Cliff richardson - accused of deviancy but oroven to not be by the bbc who covered his funeral from a helicopter
Barrymore: unconnected to any of the above. Sometimes sung. Alleged to have buggered people with a swimming pool thermometer. Allegedly but might have been his naughty mates cunted on packet
Jimmy nail: mental geordie. Sang aboot nuccy broon. Reet honest ter goodness gordie lar. Violent
Dennis waterman: wrote the theme tune to grange hill and played slap bass on open university episodes broadcast on chinese televiosn. Handsome

Most are missing the point!
Not every song needs to be sung perfectly by a singer, music would be dull and unimaginative if it was.
They'd be few genres, no punk etc.
STOP WATCHING SHIT LIKE X FACTOR, it's corporate SHITE and not music.

Singing is not about perfect pitch etc, it's about phrasing and emotion
